Dear EFL teachers,
This week we will be exploring various resources where we can find educational videos and share them with our students. Enjoy browsing through the websites we recommend at the end of December. Task 1 Which of these resources could be the most relevant for your students? Choose 3 collections of videos and explain how you could use them in your class: a) English with Jennifer b) Howcast c) Let’s talk! d) Anglo-Link e) Busy Beavers f) ABC Kid TV g) Have fun teaching h) Bridge TEFL i) CNN Student News with subtitles j) Instructables k) BBC Education l) Classroom Clips m) YouTube Education |
Task 2
For example: ESL Book Club could be used to inspire students to create their own book club and read interesting books in English, then share their impressions on TeacherTube or YouTube. Common and Proper Nouns could help students understand proper and common noun concepts. How to make an ice-cream sandwich shows 2nd grade students explaining how to make an ice-cream sandwich, so it would be a great project idea for Moldovan elementary level students when they learn food or action verbs. |

Teacher Tube is quite different from the Youtube, here you can find not only videos but also pictures, audios and very many useful things for us, English teachers.
I liked very much the text for Reading that i can use in my classrooms especially for learning new vocabulary that is very important in writing and
in speaking.
Yes, you are right, English with Jennifer and Busy Beavers are of a huge help for teachers and students. I hope you find time to explore them as often as possible.
DeleteTeacher Tube is fantastic for teachers. For English teachers it is a treasure. Use it for any fantastic idea you have for your classes.
As for the last task, you combined perfectly your words with the slides. It is a good beginning for this tool.
Good luck!
Task 1. Most of all I liked English with Jennifer,it is quite useful for teaching reading and interactive for all my students. I consider all of them important ,but as I have to chose only two I'll select Anglo-link for improving my students' use of grammar which is very important in learning process. Grammar in use is still the best way of learning foreign languages.

ReplyDeleteTask 1
ReplyDeleteI like:
1. English with Jenifer: There is a big collectioun of videous and it is easy to find one I'm looking for becouse here there are groups of playlists. I used already Jenifer's videous at my english lessons in the 6th form for example the video "Learn How to Use English Prepositions with JenniferESL"
2.Howcast: I use to watch these videous becouse I find out new things. I would like to share them with my pupils for example the topic “ I make a salad” in the 4th form , I could let them see others recipes like “Breakfast Recipes for Kids: How to Make an Egg in the Hole – Weelicious”
3. ABC Kid TV: Here there are songs on different topics which can be used in the 2-4th forms. I like very much to use edewcate songs at my lessons.
Task: 2
DeleteThe difference between Teacher Tube and Youtube is that there it's easier to find lots of useful things especially for teachers like songs, grammar, stories.
You are perfectly right, Angela!
DeleteThese are the sights that can be easily used by teachers both at the lesson and at home, as homework for their students.
Task 1. 1. English with Jennifer; 2. Let’s talk!- 3. ABC Kid TV
ReplyDelete- make a padlet or Glog on the blog which helps students to learn all aspects of the language at home; Vocabulary, prepositions, phrasal verbs, etc.
-use for everyday lessons , where students can find the aspect of language they want to practice;
-suggest students to use to learn and practice essential grammar points;
-students to use to improve listening, fluency and pronunciation;
-use with primary students for learning colours, numbers, letters, to learn songs and practice pronunciation and vocabulary;
-a collection of lessons, activities, games for teachers and students;
Task 2. How is TeacherTube different from YouTube?
Teacher Tube fills a need for a more educationally focused, safe venue for teachers, schools, and home learners. It is a site to provide professional development with teachers teaching teachers and a site where teachers can post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill.
The site also encourages teachers to not only upload educationally relevant videos, but also to make constructive comments and use the rating system to show appreciation for videos of value to one as an educator or learner.
How could Moldovan teachers use the resource to teach English as a Foreign Language?
-Moldovan teachers could use Teacher Tube to embed the videos on their blogs with the detailed tasks for students to accomplish at home; to use the videos in class in order to develop all the language skills.

Task 3. http://englishandwe.weebly.com/12th-grade1/december-30th-2015
By the way, I couldn’t read the article as it requires $29.95 for subscription and using it. But, I still did the task.
Task 4. http://englishandwe.weebly.com/12th-grade1/causative-verbs
Good job, Eugenia! Your students will watch the video and will be able to answer the question. You can also give them pre-watching and while-watching tasks. It will be workable and useful for them. You can discuss a lot about health and wellness.
DeleteI do appreciate your movenote. It is so concise and well-explained! I am sure all the students will try to prove they are the best in accomplishing this task. You chose the best video and the suitable tasks.
Good luck and thank you for being in time with your tasks.
Eugenia, you do not have to pay money for the reading. You need to sign in and become a member of the site. This will give you the possibility to read many other resources and receive news letters.
DeleteEnjoy!
Task 1
ReplyDeleteI have browsed the collections of educational videos and I have chosen those who will best fit my students' needs and interests.
1. The 1st one I liked very much is English with Jennifer that’s a big and nice collection of videos that are classified according students’ level and according to grammar, pronunciation or writing topics. Her pronunciation is understandable so these videos can be used to revise some topics or to improve pupils’ knowledge. Real situations may be interesting for pupils. They also can use these learning materials in their own as flipped information.
2. Let’s Talk is another interesting video tool. There are a lot of useful phrases for pupils. I think it can help to improve students’ speaking and writing skills as it pays attention to different confusing words.
3. CNN Student News with subtitles shares videos and transcripts from the CNN website with everyone who learns English. It updates every day, from Monday to Friday, and takes 10 minutes a day to learn English easy, funny and quickly. It is an extraordinary site for improving listening and pronunciation skills.
Task 2
Teacher Tube purpose is based on educational resources for teachers and for students. Its educational videos help the teacher to have more interesting and various lessons. The lessons presented by other teachers can refresh our lessons and the students will have the possibility to listen to different pronunciations as well.
I browsed the videos and I liked the series “Think before you post”. It can be interesting for pupils, because they like using internet and there is a lot of useful advice, listening to it they will practice English as well. I discovered Figurative Language; I liked the videos, the one I managed to watch. I think pupils will adore this way of teaching similes and metaphors.
Here is my assignment for students: http://magicenglishmagicehglish.weebly.com/homework/present-simple-tense-vs-present-progressive#comments
Task 3

DeleteAfter watching the video, students will be able to accomplish the tasks. You did great and the blog is useful and successful.
Good luck!
Task 1: For my primary classes i can use: English with Jennifer, Busy Beavers and ABC Kid TV. I think that coloured and cartoon videos, songs will interest my little students. I like very much English with Jennifer because she explanes all the topics very well and in simple words, she offers also a lot of activities.
ReplyDeleteTask 2: TeacherTube means that students are directed by the teacher on the direction that they need and they are not going to be exposed to the wide variety of postings that can appear on YouTube .Uploaded videos must address specific learning objectives and/or provide professional development for educators. The videos that teacher uses during his lesson can be shared with students on the blog accompanied with a variety of tasks.

ReplyDeleteI like the most ABC Kid TV,because my 2nd form pupils are fond of cartoons and they are very attentive when we look something like this.They can hear and see and repeat,to learn new vocabulary.Also English with Jennifer is very interesting and useful in order to enrich listening and speaking skills of my little students.

task 4
ReplyDeletehttp://mariaterziclassblog.weebly.com/efl-blogging-school-assignments
Task 1
ReplyDeleteLet’s talk! – is a good video collection providing a variety of tips for getting more fluent speaker. For example the “06 Tips To Improve Your English Today! - Free English speaking tips” video might be used to have students: 1) improve their English by following these tips, 2) write their opinions about the tips and whether they find them effective of not, 3) add their own tips and give arguments to prove they do help to improve the language skills
Bridge TEFL – another great video collection containing pieces of advice for EFL teachers to handle the teaching process, make it more colorful and involving for students. They fully describe ways of teaching through various approaches which appeal to different types of learners in terms of multiple intelligence
English with Jennifer is an excellent video collection for EFL teachers as well as learners. It provides videos to enhance grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking fluency and many other useful things. One more thing to be mentioned as a good helping source is live class videos where teachers can see how the described models practically work.
Task 2
While YouTube represents a simple collection of various videos randomly posted by YouTube users, TeacherTube was designed specially fot teachers and has well-organised, carefully structered collections of videos, audios, documents (doc., pdf., etc)and photos posted in a special way so it meetss specific requirements of educators. Teachers can also get things done quicker by mentioning their subject and the grades they teach- one more feature of the site serving to enable its visitors to easily browse the collections and choose whatever they need.
Moldovan teachers, just as any other teachers, could use TeacherTube in order to increase their students’ language skills in all four directions.

Task 1
ReplyDeleteEnglish with Jennifer is relevant because of it’s sample lessons and practical activities. It is useful for teachers, as well as for students. Grammar; speaking, pronunciation—everything can be found here, just be ready to explore. CNN Students News with subtitles is very efficient for older students to get in touch with all the information, but also have the possibility to improve their pronunciation, intonation. Having the subtitle, the students can improve their vocabulary as well. BBC Education gives the same resources, but concentrated on educational problems.
Task 2
TeacherTube is focused on educational purposes. It gives sample work done by other teachers, but in the same time gives the possibility to cooperate, to improve the teacher’s activity and motivate the students.It is well organized and easy to use.

ReplyDeleteLuminita Tiuliuliuc Assignment 12 Task 1
ReplyDeleteI consider "Learn English with Let's talk" a good site for my students as they could use some of the useful tips in building vocabulary and improve their language skills.
I like to know what's happening in the world so "CNN students' news" would contribute to both - getting in touch with world news as well as the use of English as often as p[ossible.
And for the youngest I think "ABC Kid TV" as a great visual plus pronounciation tool as well.
Luminita Tiuliuliuc Task 2
ReplyDeleteTeacher Tube can be used mostly by educators/techers for the great amount of useful tips/advice, etc. while the Youtube is probably NOT the safest for everybody, because it has a larger audience of a various age limit.

- Here teachers can find the necessarily material and propose it to their students.
- I enjoy the "Compound sentences with conjunctions" video from teachertube http://www.teachertube.com/video/compound-sentences-with-conjunctions-411338
Here is the link of my blog: http://mariaionesi.weebly.com/useful-grammar
